Increasing agricultural resilience to climate change is one of the main goals Harmonia – a new initiative for farmers.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, this was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Majnun Mamedov at the international conference within the framework of Climate Action Week in Baku.

“Sustainable agricultural development will play a vital role in combating climate change locally and globally through the Baku Harmonia Farmers Climate Initiative,” the minister said.

According to him, one of the main goals of this initiative is to empower rural communities and increase their resilience to climate change.

“The agriculture sector is one of the areas that is directly impacted and threatened by climate change. However, we do not perceive these challenges as a threat, on the contrary, we see them as opportunities to create more sustainable, efficient and modern agricultural systems for future generations.

An innovative approach and modern technologies play a decisive role in the fight against climate change. In this regard, Azerbaijan is modernizing its irrigation systems, creating opportunities for farmers to use water more efficiently and investing in renewable energy sources,” he added.
