Actor and radio host Emiliano Queiroz died this Friday morning (4), aged 88, as a result of cardiac arrest. The actor was hospitalized for 10 days at Clínica São Vicente da Gávea, due to having three stents placed in his heart.

  • “At 4:30 am he woke up, took a shower and said he was dying. He went to his room and started feeling sick at 6am. The ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital’s emergency room, where he went into cardiac arrest. He was intubated and resuscitated, but at 10 am, he died,” said the spokesman.

    Theater producer and director and journalist, Eduardo de Souza Barata, mourned the death of the actor in a post on social media. “He was already a very bright person, now, on the spiritual plane, I am sure he will continue to illuminate and transmit talent, kindness and wisdom”, said the director.

    “Very sad, but also very grateful for the powerful trajectory, artistic and cultural heritage, that the great man of the arts leaves for our country”, said Eduardo de Souza Barata.

    The location, time of burial and cremation of the body have not yet been determined.

    The actor Emiliano Queiroz was born on January 1, 1936, in Aracati, Ceara and had a career that lasted more than 70 years. Emiliano Queiroz has been doing radio and theater since he was eight years old.

    The radio announcer went on stage in the theater when he was 15 years old and has lived in Rio de Janeiro since the 60s, he was employed by TV Globo since its foundation, starting in 1965.

    Emiliano Dirceu played Borboleta in the network soap opera ‘O Bem-Amado’, in 1973, one of his most notable roles. He participated in more than 40 soap operas on TV Globo, as well as series and miniseries.

    Queiroz was married for 51 years to lawyer and actress Maria Letícia, 77 years old. The actor had 14 children with his wife and leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
