According to the report, 678,000 jobs were added to the economy last month, and the unemployment rate fell by two tenths of a percent, from 4.0% to 3.8%. By comparison, leading economists in the United States expected an addition of only about 440,000 jobs.

In January, about 467,000 new jobs were added to the American economy, so that since the beginning of the year, more than 1.14 million new jobs have been added.

However, the United States needs an additional 2.1 million new jobs in order to equal the number of jobs in the economy in February 2020 – on the eve of the corona crisis.

Similar to January, this time too the leisure and hospitality industry (hotels and the like) led with an impressive addition of 179,000 jobs. The construction industry (60,000 new jobs) also continues to recover from the corona crisis.
