NASA Glenn Research Center Director Dr. James Kenyon recently visited the University of Miami and met with Azerbaijani doctoral student Yusif Gurbanli.
As reported by Day.Az, during the meeting, Dr. Kenyon shared personal experience of his career and gave valuable advice to Yusif on his PhD research and future career. He also invited Yusif to undergo an exclusive internship under his personal supervision at NASA Glenn Research Center.
Yusif Gurbanli discussed his research and broad scientific prospects with Dr. Kenyon. Dr. Kenyon gave a presentation on NASA’s Artemis projects, highlighting NASA’s plans for lunar exploration. He also spoke about opportunities for talented young people to join NASA and emphasized the importance of new ideas and approaches to advance space exploration.
It’s worth noting that Yousif had already interned at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and spent the first two years of his doctoral studies working on high-performance electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs). During his undergraduate studies, his Mars vehicle design won the “Best Engineering Project Award” at the 2022 Miami Engineering Competition (Transportation and Energy Ecosystem based on Martian Atmosphere).
Meeting Dr. Kenyon inspired Yousif to further push the boundaries of aerospace research and strengthened his desire to promote the field in his homeland.
