The ‘Changneungcheon Cosmos Festival’ will be held for two days from the 12th to the 13th in Changneungcheon, Goyang Special City. In the cosmos flower field created with local residents at Gangmae Seokgyo Park, orange and pink cosmos were in full bloom over an area of 27,000 m2. This year, under the theme of ‘Bok! Cosmos Festival’ with retro content, the festival will feature a variety of 7080 programs and performances, including DJ talk shows and nostalgic traditional games, and a food market.
Goyang Special Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “Gangmaeseokgyo Park, located in the downstream of Changneungcheon, Goyang City’s representative river, is a flower attraction in all seasons, with the Rape Flower Festival in spring and the Cosmos Festival in fall.” He added, “This Cosmos Festival has a retro concept so that you can feel the memories and romance of fall.” “We have added and prepared it, so we hope you enjoy a special fall season,” he said.

Changneungcheon, with its spectacular rape blossoms in spring and cosmos in fall, has established itself as a famous fall flower spot that continues the reputation of Goyang City, the city of flowers. The location of the Cosmos Festival is Changneungcheon Gangmaeseokgyo Park, located on Gangmaeseokgyo Bridge, the oldest stone bridge in Goyang City, built in 1920.
At the opening ceremony held at the central square at 3 p.m. on the 12th, a performance will be held with primary-colored handkerchiefs containing a congratulatory message for the Cosmos Festival, which celebrates a space of memories and romance. Prior to the opening ceremony, the Goyang Special City Taekwondo Demonstration Team announces the start of the festival with powerful kicks.
This year’s Cosmos Festival is set in a cosmos flower field and offers a variety of retro programs so that families, moms, dads, and children can reminisce about the 70s and 80s together. There is a corner where you can try out 7080 retro costumes, and you can take memorable black and white photos taken by professional photographers throughout the festival site.
As a festival held on Goyang City’s representative river, Changneung Stream, the operating booth will give out plogging kits to 20 people per day on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in environmental cleanup along the cosmos flower field.
On both sides of the central square, cosmos flower fields in a combination of orange and pink are spread out widely. The trail will be maintained flat so that stroller users and the elderly can enjoy it safely, and approximately 600 solar night lighting lawn lights will be installed in each section to provide a unique experience even at night. Gangmaeseokgyo Park, where the festival is held, is expected to have cosmos blooms until early November, so you can freely view cosmos even on weekdays.
Retro programs that capture memories and have fun, including DJ talk shows, traditional games, and acoustic performances
At the central square, experience programs and traditional games will be held from 12 PM to 5 PM on the 12th and 13th. On a stage surrounded by cosmos, a DJ talk show will be held where the DJ will tell stories received from the scene along with music with a 7080 retro atmosphere. You can sit in the shaded stage bleachers and enjoy the autumn breeze, as well as gentle folk songs and music played by an acoustic band.
In particular, there will be a traditional play section in the middle of the event venue where you can enjoy traditional games of nostalgic memories. On-site staff who are experts in traditional games will participate in competitions such as eraser fights, pounding the ground, playing marbles, playing with the ball, cracking eggs, and playing with takjigi. Experience programs such as balsam dyeing, face painting, caricature, tarot cards, and drone experience are also available.
Also, at Gangmae Market, run by local residents, you can find food prepared by residents of Gangmae Village and Maehwa Village, such as noodles, pancakes, and acorn jelly, as well as local food produced by local residents.
Visitors using a car during the festival can park in the free parking lot next to Gangmae Seokgyo Park (652-2, Gangmae-dong). By public transportation, take bus 030 from Hwajeong Station or Haengsin Station and get off at Ganggosan Station. It takes about 5 minutes on foot. If you walk along Haengjunuri-gil from Gangmae Station, it takes about 30 minutes.

During the festival period, various festivals are held around Gangmaeseokgyo Park to enjoy the autumn of Goyang.
The ‘Haengju Art’ festival is being held at Haengju Mountain Fortress along Gangmaeseok Bridge until the 13th. The moonlight trip continues with various experiences from Daecheopmun Gate of Haengjusanseong Fortress to Chunguijeong Pavilion, and when you reach the top, you can enjoy the night view, which was selected as one of the top 100 night scenes in Korea last year.
If you want to enjoy the atmosphere of fall flowers even more, you can visit the Fall Flower Festival held at Ilsan Lake Park until the 13th. In addition to cosmos, you can tour the garden with various seasonal flowers such as zinnias and chrysanthemums for free, and at Goyang Flower Market, you can purchase inexpensive fall flowers produced by local farms.
At Ilsan Lake Park, the Goyang Lake Art Festival (11th to 13th) and Ilsan Yeolradish Kimchi Festa (12th to 13th) will also be held. On the street from Ilsan Lake Park to Ilsan Culture Square, about 50 groups will perform a variety of street art performances, and at the theme plaza of Ilsan Lake Park, you can taste and experience a variety of kimchi made from Ilsan radish, a specialty agricultural product of Goyang City, designated as Geographical Indication No. 115.
