The Seremi de Salud of Arica and Parinacota called on the population to refrain from drinking drinking water, after receiving complaints about “bad odors” in various sectors of the city.

Along with this, he specified that Aguas del Altiplano was already alerted of what happened, indicating that After reviewing all their wells, they managed to identify that one of them “was immediately disconnected from the pond yesterday (Thursday).
Along these lines, he specified that in the last hours “the pipes were cleaned to be able to clean the remains. Today, we continue to report complaints from educational establishments and homes, where there is still the presence of an odor in the water.”
Meanwhile, Aguas del Altiplano issued a public statement, urging the population to refrain from drinking drinking water “as a preventive measure.” and communicate with the company through our different platforms and channels, to coordinate a visit.”
Faced with this, the Seremi de Salud of Arica released a series of recommendations in the face of this emergency:
- Do not consume tap water or prepare food with it as a precautionary measure, but it can be used for flushing toilet services and cleaning tasks.
- Use bottled water until further notice or drinking water that the Aguas del Altiplano company will make available in the affected sectors.
