pJohan Neeskens, a huge figure in Dutch and world football, died at the age of 73.

Johan Neeskens made his name in the golden era of Ajax and the Dutch national team, wearing the Barcelona shirt, among others.

In his first year with Ajax, he faced Panathinaikos in the Champions Cup final at Wembley, and for many years he was the football “support” of another great Dutchman, Johan Cruyff.

Among other things, he was the one who opened the scoring in the final of the World Cup in 1974 against West Germany, a final which the “Oranie” lost, and against Argentina, four years later.

In total in his career, the international midfielder scored 104 goals with clubs in official games and 17 for the Dutch national team.
