This international event, placed this year under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, has contributed significantly since its creation to the multiple developments and achievements of Moroccan agriculture.

SIAM, an unwavering royal desire to modernize national agriculture

Beyond its historical significance, this event is considered a strong signal from HM King Mohammed VI to promote the agricultural sector and modernize it.

Organized under the high patronage of His Majesty the King, this high mass also aims to give a strong dynamic to the role of regions in promoting their assets to attract the investments necessary for development.

The challenges that Morocco must face and the issues imposed by the context of globalization require the overhaul of its orientations and its choices, particularly through the upgrading of the agricultural sector and its integration into its national and international economic environment.

By being in line with the royal vision for integrated and resilient agriculture in a context of scarcity of precipitation, water shortage and climate change, the Show constitutes a platform for exchange and monitoring adapted to the support of the Kingdom’s partners in the co-development of projects linked to agribusiness, according to a sustainable approach that respects people, soil and biodiversity.

SIAM, high mass of Moroccan and African agriculture

Over the years, SIAM has been able to innovate, develop and increase its notoriety among agri-food professionals, thus consolidating its status as an unmissable event for the general public and actors in the agricultural value chain.

This event, which has definitively anchored itself in the national calendar, today offers operators in the sector a platform for communication, meetings and exchanges, a space for networking, interconnections and benchmarking tools.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, the 16th SIAM constitutes a platform for exchange and action for sustainable and resilient production systems in a context marked by climate change.

In recent statements, he affirmed that this Fair is now positioned as a unique space for exchange and communication around the vision and agricultural development strategy of the Kingdom as well as offering a suitable opportunity for meetings with the different partners, both national and international.

On the organizational side, the figures collected over 16 years speak for themselves and confirm the very positive impact of the Show as well as the real support of exhibitors and the public, the number of which gradually increases from one year to the next.

With a very significant retention rate of exhibitors and a consequent increase in the participation of the international pole with nearly 70 countries present and more than 1,500 exhibitors, the show contributes to the influence of agriculture and the national agri-food industry both at the regional level as well as with the Kingdom’s continental and international partners.

Today, for its 16th edition, SIAM, an African and international reference in its field, is helping to establish a true industrial and economic crossroads between Europe and Africa.

For the organizers, this event is an opportunity to create a promising space that could constitute a sort of platform for an efficient agricultural policy based on the encouragement of investments in the agricultural field, the rational mobilization of potential and production factors in order to to face the challenge of demographic growth experienced by Morocco and the challenges imposed by globalization.

The objective is to support an agricultural policy capable of preserving Morocco’s achievements in terms of achievements and equipment and which is based on ideal exploitation of the specificities of the soil of each region in order to improve productivity in the sectors of agriculture and the food industry most adapted to its potential and its natural resources.

From PMA to “Generation Green”, the success story of an insightful vision

In sixty years, Moroccan agriculture, the backbone of the economy, has made remarkable progress which has concerned practically all productions, both animal and plant, as well as the structuring of the sectors.

Since the deployment of the first agricultural strategy in Morocco, the “Plan Maroc Vert/PMA” (2008/2018), agricultural GDP and agricultural exports have doubled, generating positive effects on farmers’ income, investment and balance. commercial.

This dynamic has also contributed to national economic growth since the contribution of agriculture to GDP growth points increased from 7% during the decade 1998-2008 to 17% during the decade 2008-2018. The agricultural sector has thus succeeded in playing a driving role in national dynamics.

Next comes the “Green Generation 2020-2030” strategy, launched on February 13, 2020 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for the development of the agricultural sector with a view to integrating it into a dynamic of renewal based on an ambitious and shared vision, capable of contributing to the economic and social development desired by the Sovereign.

This ambitious strategy is based on two foundations, the first of which gives “Priority to the human element” and is based on the principle that the development of the human element is a sine qua non condition for the continued modernization of the sector and the consolidation of acquired knowledge.

The second foundation is that of “Sustainability of agricultural development” and aims to consolidate the achievements of the Green Morocco Plan while making a significant qualitative and technological leap.
