(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 09 OCT – “Today I filed a question addressed to councilor Riccardi to shed light on the management of cases of melanoma and other serious dermatological pathologies in the Asufc: the issue revolves around the lack of a complete department of Dermatology with beds at the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, despite the worrying incidence of skin tumors in Fvg.” This is what Furio Honsell, regional councilor of Open Sinistra Fvg, expressed in a note released by Acon.
“Recent data shows that Friuli Venezia Giulia records an incidence of melanomas three times higher than the national average, with over 400 new cases diagnosed in the last three years. – declares Honsell – However, the Udine Hospital does not have a real own dermatology department, but only an outpatient clinic and a day hospital service, which are not sufficient to guarantee complete assistance to patients suffering from such serious pathologies”.
“The management of patients affected by melanoma – adds the councilor – requires specialist care that cannot be adequately guaranteed by an outpatient clinic or a day hospital. A complete department is essential to offer an effective therapeutic path and respond to a real emergency regional health”.
“We ask for urgent action to resolve a situation that seriously penalizes patients in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The right to health – concludes Honsell – is a fundamental right, and we cannot allow the lack of a specialized department to compromise the quality of care for those who face such complex and debilitating illnesses.” (HANDLE).
