Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has introduced a ban on carrying pagers and radios on its flights.
This decision was made after recent incidents of explosions of similar devices associated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah, as Reuters writes.
The company said all passengers flying to, from or through Dubai cannot include these devices in their checked or carry-on baggage. Any pagers or radios identified will be seized by Dubai Police as part of heightened security measures.
Emirates Airlines also announced the suspension of flights to Iraq and Iran until Tuesday, and flights to Lebanon are temporarily canceled until October 15. However, the airline is resuming its flights to Jordan tomorrow.
Earlier, Cursor reported that Air India, India’s national carrier and one of the country’s oldest airlines, was canceling all flights to Israel until the end of the year. Irish budget airline Ryanair has also suspended its flights to and from Israel until February 2025. The decision comes in response to similar measures by EasyJet, which has also suspended flights for the coming months.
It is expected that this situation may lead to an increase in air ticket prices for passengers. Numerous airlines have temporarily suspended flights to Israel, and unless Ryanair resumes them in 2025, it will be a significant blow to Israeli travelers.
In conditions of limited supply and high demand, the cost of flights usually increases. Other companies such as Delta, KLM, American Airlines and Cathay Pacific also have no plans to return to Israel until the end of the year.
In addition, we talked about how the bombing of pagers in Lebanon scared the Kremlin.
