“She will also oversee the development and implementation of the bank’s new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS). The new partnership strategy will build on ADB’s ongoing activities in Azerbaijan. The strategic areas the document focuses on will be consistent with the government’s development strategy and ADB’s 2030 strategy year.
“It is a great honor for me to lead ADB’s efforts in Azerbaijan, which has a rich culture and significant economic potential,” said S. Durrani-Jamali.
She noted that the priority tasks are to expand sustainable cooperation between ADB and the government and promote economic diversification. This includes expanding renewable energy projects, addressing climate change, and promoting the transition to a green economy.
Let us recall that since 1999, when Azerbaijan became a member of the Bank, ADB has allocated more than $5 billion to the public and private sectors, including such areas as transport, energy, health and agriculture.
