These screenings, which will continue until October 12 as part of the Qatar-Morocco cultural year, include four films by Moroccan directors, namely “House in the Middle of the Fields” by Tala Hadid, “Mica” by Ismaïl Ferroukhi , “Fragments from heaven” by Adnane Baraka and “Birdland” by Leïla Kilani.

The film “House in the Middle of the Fields” explores the life of the Amazigh community of the High Atlas, preserving a large part of the History of the Amazighs in Morocco, with a view to transmitting this heritage in audiovisual format, presenting a real image of a village having preserved its authenticity for hundreds of years, despite numerous changes at the social and political levels.

The film takes viewers into the lives of two teenage sisters. One has to leave school to prepare for marriage, while the other dreams of becoming a lawyer.

As for Ismaïl Ferroukhi’s film, “Mica”, it tells the story of Mica, a child who lives in a poor neighborhood of Meknes, with sick parents and a difficult social situation.

An old man takes him to Casablanca and introduces him to a rich man to work in a tennis club. Ready to do anything to change his destiny, he attracts the attention of Sofia, a tennis coach, who notices his talent and takes care of him. The film follows Mica’s journey as she faces the challenges of her new life.

Regarding “Fragments from Heaven”, by Adnane Baraka, this film follows a group of people who search for meteorites in the heart of the Moroccan desert.

Finding a meteorite could transform the life of whoever discovers it, while raising profound questions about the origin of life. The film shows that each answer leads to new questions, leaving a mystery to be solved.

In “Birdland”, a Moroccan family meets in the village of Mansouria to sell a large plot of land inherited from their ancestors, located on a hillside near Tangier. However, the sale of this “Land of Birds” turns out to be more complicated than expected.

The Doha Film Institute also announced a special program of Moroccan short films entitled “Made in Morocco”, as part of the “Ajyal” film festival, scheduled for November 16 to 23 in Doha.
