(Saint-Théophile) A snowmobile accident caused one death on Saturday morning in Beauce.

Emergency services were notified of the accident by a person who accompanied the victim during this night hike in Saint-Théophile, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
“Around 2:45 a.m., the emergency services were called to go to snowmobile trail 25 North, in Saint-Théophile, for a trail exit. The snowmobiler, who was alone on board, was transported to the hospital center, where unfortunately his death was declared, ”said Sergeant Hélène Nepton, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The victim is a resident of this municipality of less than 700 inhabitants.
“The snowmobiler, who was in his forties, was accompanied by another snowmobiler who realized the absence of his traveling companion. He therefore turned back to realize that the snowmobiler had swerved,” said Sergeant Nepton.
An investigation by the Sûreté du Québec is underway.
“Currently, we have a collision investigation specialist who is on site to verify what happened, then find out the circumstances of the collision,” said the spokesperson.
