Born in 1938 in the village of Shagram near Madin, a tourist spot in Koswat, Badramunir’s father, Maulvi Yaqut Khan, wanted to equip him with religious education, but he became an actor. He also got the opportunity to work as a T-boy in Murad’s office, but when Pashto made his first film “Yusuf Khan Sher Banu” he appeared in the hero roles with Yasmin Khan. The film was based on a folk tale of the Pathans.
After the success of “Yusuf Khan Sherbanu”, Pashto filmmaking increased and the pair of Yasmin Khan along with Badr Munir became a hit. After a long time, she got an opportunity to work in director Mumtaz Ali Khan’s Urdu film “Dilhan Ek Raat Ki” in which Nami was the heroine and Asif Khan was the villain.
The duo of Badramunir and Yasmin Khan worked together in more than 70 films, Badramunir’s other Pashto heroines included Soraya Khan, Shahnaz, Musrat Shaheen, Khanum, Waheeda Khan, Nadra, Mumtaz and Nami, in Urdu films Nasho, Neeli, Babra Sharif, Along with Diba, Chakori and Ruhi Bano, he showed the essence of acting as a hero.
Apart from Pashto, Badramunir also acted in about forty Urdu films, also worked in many Punjabi films, Badramunir’s memorable films include Yusuf Khan Sher Banu, Adam Khan Darkhanai, Orbal, Ghirtaar, Mere Door, Tupik Zama Qawan, Raaaj, and Family Badrani. , Padaang, Iqraar, Jashan, Bodyguard and Masafari besides hundreds of other films, “Teen Badshah” was his first Punjabi film while his Urdu films include Jahan Barf Gurti Hai, Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, Deshmani and Cheikh.
Despite being uneducated, Badr Munir also wrote stories for many films as a story writer. In the long run, 65 heroines acted as heroes, 53 directors cast them in their films, all except Sangeeta appeared in the films of female directors.
Five of his films celebrated Diamond Jubilee, 14 Platinum Jubilee, 40 Golden Jubilee and 162 Silver Jubilee. Apart from countless awards for artistic services, he was also awarded the Presidential Award for Best Performance by the Government of Pakistan for which he was nominated in 2008. But on March 23, 2009, his family members received this award, in addition to eight Nigar, Graduate, Noorjahan, Bolan and countless other awards also came to him.
Badrmanir worked with Asif Khan in 200 films, he played 435 title roles as a hero, appeared as a guest actor in 25 films, 52 films were cinema scope and 54 were black and white, his last film “Lionai” was a huge success.
Badr Munir passed away on October 11, 2008 after suffering from paralysis for four years.
