A young man named Mohammad Fuad (32) was injured after being hit by a truck on Elephant Road in Newmarket of the capital. Later, when he was rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical, the doctor on duty declared him dead at around 12 o’clock last night. He was a driver by profession.
The accident happened on Thursday night. Fuad’s wife Lima Akhter, who brought him to Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital, said, “My husband was a driver of Mohammadpur An Noor Hospital.” On his way back home from duty at night, I came to know through people that he met with an accident while passing in front of Multiplex Market on Elephant Road. He was seriously injured when a truck hit him from behind. Later, when he was taken to DM, the doctor declared him dead.
He also said that my father-in-law’s house is in Taraganj village of Lalmohan police station in Bhola district. My father-in-law Mohammad Billal Mridha currently lives with his family in a rented house in Kajla area of Jatrabari. We have a two and a half year old son.
On the other hand, a woman Tahera Begum (55) was killed when she was hit by a motorbike while crossing the road at Ramer Kanda in Keraniganj, Dhaka.
The accident happened around 3:30 on Thursday afternoon. Later he was rushed to a local hospital in Hasanabad area of Keraniganj. When the condition worsened there, he was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical, and the doctor on duty declared him dead around 10:30 pm.
Mohammad Qayyum, son of Tahera Begum, said, “My mother was crossing the road next to Ramer Kanda graveyard in Keraniganj on her way back to our home from my mother-in-law’s house in the afternoon. At that time, a reckless motorbike hit my mother and ran away. Later we got the news and took the mother to the local hospital. When the condition worsened, when he was taken to Dhaka Medical for treatment, the doctor declared him dead.
Mohammad Farooq, in-charge of DMK Police Camp, said that a young man died after being hit by a truck in Newmarket area and an old woman died after being hit by a motorbike in Keraniganj. Two bodies have been kept in Dhaka Medical Emergency Department morgue for autopsy. These issues have been reported to the concerned police station.
