The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdelhamid Dabaiba, received a high-level African delegation headed by the President of the Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani.
Dabaiba welcomed the attendees and said: “I warmly welcome the President of the Republic of Mauritania, Chairman of the African Union, Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani, Moussa El-Feki, Chairman of the African Union Commission, and Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude.”
He said: “Your visit today represents a strong message of support for the State of Libya at this crucial time, as the Libyan political scene is entering a new phase after beginning to take decisive steps to resolve the obstacles that have restricted the political scene for years.”
He added: “Libya today needs visions that recognize the importance of security as a basic basis for any successful political process,” adding: “I confirm that Libya is not in a state of deep division as many see it,” noting that “the divisions were not an expression of societal and demographic divisions, and are “It is limited to political conflict and wealth sharing.”
Al-Dabaiba said: “What we need today is to work to eliminate political differences by supporting national settlement paths, in the hope that they will achieve complete reconciliation.”
He added: “We sought to put an end to the armed conflict, and we focused on competition in providing services and development, and we achieved great success. The challenges we face are not insurmountable, but they require cooperation and partnership to achieve sustainable stability and development.”
He said: “We are determined in the next stage to take pivotal decisions that remove the obstacles that hinder the path to stability, and our vision for the future of Libya is clear: ending the transitional stages and moving directly to holding elections on fair, legal foundations.”
For their part, the guests emphasized in their speeches “the African Union’s continued support for Libya at this delicate stage.”
The Mauritanian President said, “Libya’s stability is stability for the entire African continent, and that the Union is committed to continuing to support Libya on its path towards national reconciliation and sustainable development, adding that Libya’s return to its natural role within the African Union is necessary.”
In turn, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, indicated that “the Union will continue to provide what is necessary to support Libya in its efforts to achieve security and stability, indicating that African cooperation with Libya is not limited only to the political aspect, but extends to include development in various fields, and that national reconciliation In Libya, it is the basis for building a sustainable future.”
Congolese Foreign Minister Jean-Claude Jacosso also expressed his country’s support for the Libyan efforts, noting that the African Union will be a strategic partner for Libya, which is witnessing clear stability, adding that Libya is a pivotal country that has played an important role in helping the countries of the continent.
