– Performing an omnidirectional role in implementing carbon neutrality and leading environmental services in response to the climate crisis
“It is meaningful to be recognized for the Corporation’s ESG management efforts and achievements.”
The Korea Environment Corporation (Chairman Byeong-ok Ahn), under the Ministry of Environment, won the grand prize in the environmental field at the ‘3rd Korea ESG Innovation Awards’ hosted by the Korean Society for Policy Studies on the 11th.
The ‘Korea ESG Innovation Awards’ is being implemented by the Korea Policy Society starting in 2022 with the purpose of discovering, sharing and disseminating sustainable and excellent ESG innovation policy cases of public institutions.
The Corporation, which won the 2022 Innovation Awards Social Sector Excellence Award, was not satisfied with this and established an ESG management advancement and PDCA system to ‘realize social responsibility through transparent environmental services’ in 2023.
In order to advance the mid- to long-term ESG management promotion strategy linked to the institutional management strategy and diagnose the ESG performance of strategic tasks in an objective manner, the ‘K-eco ESG Management Performance Management Model’ has been developed to measure performance and feed back into the strategy.
In addition, the Corporation was recognized as a representative achievement for the carbon neutrality of citizens, companies, and the government, and its efforts to support companies’ ESG management.
Key achievements include: △ Inducing companies to reduce greenhouse gases through the greenhouse gas emissions trading system* △ Helpdesk operation and consulting support to strengthen companies’ response capabilities to the EU carbon border adjustment system △ Smart eco-factory for small and medium-sized companies to convert to eco-friendly facilities These include increasing corporate sales, improving odor, and reducing dust through construction projects.
Management Planning Director Cha Gwang-myeong, who attended the award ceremony that day, said, “We will strive to become an organization trusted by the public through transparent ESG management and private support.”
In addition, the corporation supports various greenhouse gas reduction activities, such as supporting local governments in establishing carbon neutral basic plans, using reusable containers to encourage citizens to practice carbon neutral lifestyles, and operating a carbon neutral point system.
Byeong-ok Ahn, Chairman of the Korea Environment Corporation, said, “We will work harder to create results that the public can feel by listening more closely to the opinions of various stakeholders and actively reflecting them in our work.”
