The objective is in particular to contribute to improving access to care for mothers and children, and to change the behavior of populations with the aim of reducing avoidable deaths, while working to reduce the disparities observed in this area. between urban and rural areas.

It is in this context that the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) of Oujda-Angad is organizing, from October 1 to December 31, 2022, an awareness campaign on maternal and child health.

This campaign is organized in partnership with the provincial delegation of Health and Social Protection and the Moroccan Association of Midwives – Oriental Section, at the level of health centers in rural communities of the prefecture, as well as at the within the socio-cultural centers established within the framework of the INDH.

This action, which was launched at the end of the week at the health center in the rural commune of Ain Sfa, is carried out thanks to the mobilization of a large medical team including doctors from different specialties (general medicine, gynecology, pediatrics) and nursing and paramedical executives.

In a statement to M24, the MAP continuous news channel, Hamid Hammoucha, responsible for the program to boost human capital for rising generations at the Social Action Division of the Oujda-Angad prefecture, said indicated that this awareness campaign is part of the interest shown by the 3rd phase of the INDH (2019-2023) in the health of mothers and children, and targets in particular children under aged 6, mothers and pregnant women.

For her part, Bahija El Houssaini, president of the Moroccan Association of Midwives – Oriental Section, stressed that this campaign is organized within the framework of the partnership agreement linking the association to the wilaya of Oriental and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and will be carried out at the level of 10 health centers in rural areas and 9 in urban areas in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad.

This campaign, which has seen a large turnout from the local population from the outset, is focused in particular on raising awareness of maternal and child health and good practices in this area, as well as monitoring of the health of children under 6 years old, particularly cases suffering from respiratory diseases and growth problems, she said.

Furthermore, this initiative coincides with Pink October, the women’s awareness campaign for breast cancer screening, she noted, noting that this component was included on this occasion in this campaign.

In this regard, screening operations will be carried out for the benefit of the beneficiaries of this campaign, without forgetting awareness-raising actions, added Ms. El Houssaini.

This campaign supports the various achievements and efforts carried out by the Department of Health and the INDH with a view to improving the provision of care intended for these categories and, consequently, guaranteeing favorable conditions for the development of generations. rising.
