BOLZANO. “The environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the ski lift renovation project “Plan de Corones 1+2″, which includes a new slope in the Plan de Corones ski areais currently on the agenda of the competent provincial bodies. The environmentalist and alpine associations are unanimous: the existing slopes at Plan de Corones must be enough. The expected major deforestation is clearly in conflict with the objectives of the South Tyrol 2040 climate plan.”
The associations of alpinists and ambientists include: CAI Alto Adige, Alpine Association of South Tyrol, Umbrella Association for Nature and Environmental Protection EO, Homeland Care Association of South Tyrol, Protect Our Winters Italy and Mountain Wilderness.
“The overall evaluation of all construction measures, the impact on the landscape and the consumption of resources produces a clearly negative result. The renovation of the Plan de Corones 1+2′ ski lift may be necessary, but an expansion of the slopes must be avoided in any case”, so the note.
