Ben & Jerrys Israel fights boycott: demands restraining order against Unilever

by time news

Ben & Jerry’s Israel, the franchisee that makes Ben & Jerry’s ice cream here, filed a lawsuit in the United States last week against Unilever Global, the owner of Ben & Jerry’s. The American attorneys for Avi Singer, the CEO and owner of a factory Israeli Ice Cream claims that the lawsuit not to sell the company’s products in parts of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria is against Israeli and American law. They want to recognize the termination of Unilever’s contract with Singer as an illegal move, and to issue a restraining order that will allow the continued operation of the Ben & Jerrys Israel plant.

The lawsuit was filed in New Jersey District Court, where Unilever’s headquarters are located in the United States. “It’s a heavy price and it’s Unilever’s time to recalculate the route, and allow Ben & Jerrys Israel to continue selling ice cream all over the country.”

Last July, Unilever Global announced that it was demanding that Singer, which employs 169 people in the ice cream factory, stop selling ice cream in Judea and Samaria. Legislation against a boycott of Israel, the State Department and Jewish communities succeeded in causing states such as New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Arizona and others to enforce the boycott laws against Unilever, leading to the withdrawal of investments (mainly from pension funds) $ 1 billion so far.
