In protest of MK Gilad Karib’s arrival at the Western Wall with a Torah scroll last Friday, exercising his immunity as a Knesset member, MK Porush entered the Constitution Committee room today (Sunday) – and in the middle of the debate began reading Psalms and blowing the shofar.
Following this, the chairman of the committee, Karib, was forced to announce a break.
In response, Porush replied: “You have disturbed us – we will disturb you.”
He later addressed the committee members: “Take a break … he can not hold a meeting here.”
After MK Porush continued to read Psalms, Karib said: The son acts a little more pleasantly, and he has the right to protest. We hear one or two Psalms, it is always good and then unfortunately we will kindly ask the Knesset ushers to help MK Porush continue his protest elsewhere. “
He added: “A situation in which a MK disrupts the discussion and disturbs the representatives of the government ministry and repeats this is a serious violation. This is not a situation of inappropriate intermediate reading. “Because of the honor of MK Porush and because the right to protest is an important right, we will try to resume the debate, but if he prevents the debate from taking place, I will use my authority to ask MK Porush to leave and not put the Knesset ushers in an unpleasant situation.”
