The presentation ceremony of this book took place on the occasion of the closing session of the work of the 4th edition of the Franco-Moroccan meetings on development actions at work in the southern provinces, initiated under the theme “getting out of ambiguity” by the France-Morocco Peace and Sustainable Development Foundation, in partnership with the Ribat Al Fath Association.
Mr. Seillan, who is also a French writer and jurist, took this opportunity to present the new features of the 2nd edition, more enriched, of his 248-page book, designed as a historical novel with economic, social, legal and political connotations.
The work is a moment of sharing the different moments of the writer’s “journey”, where time and space converge and combine, with a view to opening the paths of knowledge of the territory, while taking the different paths offered by geography, history and law.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Seillan explained that it is a question of showing through history and geography the territorial integrity of Morocco, maintained even during the period of the protectorate by natural, geographical, historical forces. , economic and ancient cultural.
He noted that the main objective of his book is to raise awareness of this issue among readers beyond Morocco, while welcoming the socio-economic and urban development experienced by the southern provinces, particularly the city of Laâyoune.
In this regard, the president of the France-Morocco Peace and Sustainable Development Foundation compared Laâyoune and the entire Moroccan Sahara to “New California”, which has experienced urban and industrial expansion in less than a century.
Published by “La Croissant des Chemins” in November 2021, the 2nd edition of the book “The Moroccan Sahara: Space and Time” was enriched by taking into account the latest advances on the Moroccan Sahara issue in the years 2020 and 2021.
Initiated under the theme “getting out of ambiguity” by the France-Morocco Peace and Sustainable Development Foundation, in partnership with the Ribat Al Fath Association, the Franco-Moroccan meetings organized in Guelmim (September 19-20), Tan-Tan (September 21), Es-Semara (September 22-23) and Laâyoune (September 24), focus on sustainable human development programs in the economic, scientific, cultural, tourism and urban planning fields.
Structured around economic, cultural and agricultural issues, these meetings allow you to discover the urban, industrial and tourist development programs, as well as the extraordinary achievements experienced by the southern regions of the Kingdom which, once desert, have become “today, and for three decades, a space of life, production, innovation and affirmation of their belonging to the motherland.
A host of Moroccan and French experts, academics, elected officials and economic and institutional actors are taking part in this edition to provide their insight and strong and eloquent support for the effort made in these regions by the State Moroccan, as well as their know-how to improve performance in certain sectors and investment opportunities.
