A woman won the lottery and her husband wants to decide what she spends the money on. The woman wrote on the online platform “Reddit” that her partner wanted to spend the money on a car.
Before they won the lottery, they lived mainly on their salary. She has full-time and part-time jobs, while he is a full-time student and works in the summer. “We walk or take public transport everywhere to save money,” said the woman.
Cigarettes, coffee and lottery tickets
While her husband of four years smoked cigarettes and coffee, she spent her money on lottery tickets at the weekend. “He always makes fun of me for paying the ‘stupid tax’,” she continued. “But I’m of the opinion that my pleasure is cheaper and has nothing to do with lung cancer. Sometimes I jokingly tell him not to expect a dime if I win.”
When she finally won, he told her: “Okay, so keep everything! It’s not like I’m here crying over a penny or anything. In response, I asked how I should spend half of it on myself,” she said.
The argument escalates
It was only a joke – but the argument between the two escalated. “To be honest, I was just joking at the time, but suddenly he became angrier than I had ever seen him, and I didn’t want to admit that I was joking because he was so angry that it made me mad too. “
Her partner was convinced that she would use the money to buy a car. “He kept trying to convince me, so I refused to share the money,” she wrote. “I won’t be using a car and it will always cost us money in terms of parking and maintenance fees.”
