This Trail has become one of the most significant sporting events in mountain sports in Morocco, with a distinguished participation each year of foreign and Moroccan runners, added the organizers during a press conference dedicated to the presentation of this new edition.
Organized by the Association Espoir pour le Sport et le Développement, this edition will be marked by the organization of several social and solidarity activities in favor of people affected by the earthquake, including a campaign dedicated to the distribution of sports clothing and awareness raising. students from educational establishments on the importance of practicing sport in daily life, in addition to supporting women’s cooperatives specializing in tapestry and agricultural products in the village of Tagant.
According to the organizers, this sporting event will see the participation of 100 runners from the region. The objective being to contribute to the sporting influence of this province and to encourage local talents, by organizing races of different distances, namely 120 km, 80 km, 42 km, 21 km and 10 km as well as a dedicated race to children.
In a statement to MAP on this occasion, Youssef Ait Miskouk, participant in the 42 km race, indicated that the Sonasid HAUT is experiencing a significant improvement from one year to the next, deploring at the same time, the lack of associations dedicated to this type of racing in the region.
Furthermore, he underlined the importance of sports equipment to practice this type of sport and reach the highest levels, enabling athletes to better prepare to take part in international meetings.
For her part, Aziza Raji, specialist in mountain races and sand marathons, who will also participate in the 42 km race, estimated that these sporting events encourage talents in the region to practice sport, noting that mountain sports Mountain sports have become popular among girls thanks to the growing awareness of the importance of sport in life.
In the opinion of the organizing committee of this Trail, the winners of the men’s and women’s 42 km races will qualify to participate in the Sierre-Zinal race in Switzerland, specifying that the travel costs of the two qualified runners will be covered. charge, in partnership with the Swiss embassy in Morocco.
