Lucknow: With the final phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh today, the five state assembly elections are coming to an end. The registered votes will be counted on the 10th. Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Goa, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand will go to the polls on January 8. Accordingly, it has been announced that the polls will be held in 7 phases in UP, 2 phases in Manipur and one phase in Goa, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand. Elections have already been held in Manipur, Goa, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand. The votes recorded here are kept safe. In this context, the final phase of voting is taking place today, as the 6th phase of elections in UP has already been completed.
Voting is taking place today in 54 constituencies in nine districts, including Varanasi, Assam, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Santoli, Mirzapur, Badohi and Sonbhadra, under Prime Minister Modi’s parliamentary constituency. Of these, a total of 613 candidates are in the fray. 2.06 crore voters are eligible to vote. Voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., following Corona guidelines. Heavy security has been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents. Votes cast in all five states will be counted on the 10th. On that day, it will be known who is going to rule these states.

The term of President Ramnath Govind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu is set to end in the next few months. The votes of MLAs play an important role in the presidential election. Of these, the one who gets more than 50 percent of the vote will win. Thus, the results of the 5 state elections are not only to elect the chief ministers, but also to determine who will be the next president of the country. At present, the strength of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is less than 50 percent. Thus, the BJP is forced to rely on the coalition parties to unanimously field a presidential candidate. If the results of the 5 state elections are in favor of the state parties, it seems that the BJP will suffer a major setback in the presidential election.
