BEIJINGChina is working to commercialize 6G, the next-generation wireless technology after 5G, around 2030, according to an official source from the country’s 6G promotion group.

6G standards are expected to be established in 2025, Wang Zhiqin, leader of the country’s 6G promotion group and deputy director of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, said on state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced on Tuesday that China has allocated 6GHz spectrum for 5G and 6G systems.

The portfolio indicated that said spectrum is the only high-quality resource with a large intermediate frequency bandwidth, taking into account its coverage and capacity advantages, and noted that the 6GHz range is especially suitable for future deployments of 5G systems or 6G.Zhang

Yunming, vice minister of MIIT, announced that as next steps, the ministry will lay the foundation for the implementation of 6G and facilitate cross-sector collaboration to fuel a robust 6G ecosystem, while promoting the formulation of globally unified standards for this technology. .
