Thiruvarur Thiagarajar Temple is considered to be the headquarters of the Vedic religion. Born in Thiruvarur, the earthly abode of the famine giants, Thiruvarur is a place of salvation as the name suggests. The ablution that takes place in this magnificent temple is world famous.

The Panguni Uttara festival is held every year to mark the abyss, which boasts of being the largest chariot in Asia. Accordingly, this year’s Panguni Uttara Festival started with the flag hoisting on the 20th of last month (February).

On the 15th (Tuesday) of the festival comes the Azhithorotta festival. Along with Azhitheru, the chariots of Ganesha, Subramanian, Kamalampal and Chandikeswarar are also being decorated and prepared for the chariot race. Chandrasekhar Kedaka festival was held yesterday in connection with the Panguni Uttara festival. In this, Chandrasekhar walked the streets with special decorations.
