Coup de theater in Alverca where Penafiel saw victory slip through his fingers with a penalty converted by the Ribatejos at 90+12 which dictated a 2-2 draw, in a match on the 8th round of Series II. The team led by Hélder Cristóvão, who are still unbeaten, are still in first place in the standings, but only two points more than Tondela and Benfica B.
The Douro team started winning on their visit to Ribatejo, with Gabriel Barbosa opening the scoring in the 24th minute, but Alverca equalized soon after, in the 30th minute, with a goal from Anthony Carter.
In the second half, in the 62nd minute, the visitors got the advantage back, with a goal from Zé Leite and Penafiel seemed set for the sixth win of the season, but Alverca would still have a say.
After many balls were pumped into the Penafiel area, the referee awarded a penalty, at 90+10, for a flooding cut on the hand of captain João Miguel. Anthony Carter, from the eleven meter mark, scored twice in the game and claimed a point for the home side who continue to fail to win at home.
With this draw, Penafiel has only two points more than Tondela and Benfica B, still without a win (5 wins and 3 draws), but is still one game behind the Seixal team.
