Judicial reform will not protect faceless judges: PRI

by times news cr

The regulatory laws for the election of judges do not contemplate the change of district to judges due to the threats they may receive from organized crime, warned the federal deputy Emilio Suarez Licona (PRI).

During the meeting they had this Friday in the Justice Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, the legislator added that the reform also does not foresee how the candidates for faceless judges will present themselves.

“This reform does not contemplate that possibility in the face of an electoral system of judges, that case and the other, that of faceless judges, how are they going to present themselves in the elections?”, he questioned before the commission, which was declared in session. permanent to begin the discussion of the minutes sent by the Senate.

Suárez Licona recalled that a few months ago, the National Electoral Institute (INE) commented on the murder of 37 candidates from all political parties who to this day do not have an answer.

“The investigation files have no evidence, they have no people responsible, that is the basis of the concern of the magistrates,” he highlighted.

For this reason, he proposed that they be received over the weekend to understand their cases and that the ruling party in the Chamber of Deputies be sensitive to making some determination in this case.

For his part, deputy Hugo Erick Flores Cervantes (Morena) criticized the PRI’s position and said that entering this debate would be unproductive because they will explain “what they already know, because we really already know that this happens.”

“We will debate it in the opinion and in some of its considerations, personally, I agree,” he added.

On the contrary, PAN member César Retes considered that dialogue can enrich the proposal, because there are still doubts about how the reform will be implemented.

The proposals were rejected by the ruling bloc, as they maintained that several Open Parliament forums were already held in the last legislature.
