An Israeli think tank addressed the US Congress with an appeal in connection with Azerbaijan, the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora told Day.Az.
“We, the board members of the Don Gracia Center for Diplomacy, strongly condemn the initiative of the US Congress to provide financial assistance to the Armenian separatists,” says a statement published in the famous Israeli publication Economic Peace Center in connection with the bill introduced in the US Congress by Congressman Adam Schiff.
The statement calls the bill a unilateral act of discrimination, which completely ignores the plight and hardships suffered by Azerbaijani internally displaced persons and expresses sympathy for the Armenian separatists. It is also noted that the main reason for discrimination against Azerbaijan is ethnic and religious prejudices. The appearance of such a document is a violation of human rights and international law, damaging the universal values and principles that the United States stands for. It is noted that such a discriminatory approach by the author of the bill, relying on Armenian lobby groups, to the right of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes, looks especially disgusting from a moral point of view.
The statement notes that those who now come forward with the anti-Azerbaijani initiative remained completely silent when Azerbaijanis were subjected to ethnic cleansing, including the Khojaly genocide, and remain silent now, when mines planted by Armenia continue to maim and kill civilians.
The document, calling on the United States to take a fair position, emphasizes that it will not be difficult to withdraw the biased bill if the interests of this country, as well as peace between the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, are given priority.
