In accordance with the instructions of the president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardomembers of the federal government cabinet held an inter-institutional meeting for Comprehensive Assistance in Immigration Matters.
The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodriguez, Together with the Secretaries of State, he attended the meeting to work together for a humanitarian model of mobility.
Among the agreements reached by the members of the Intersecretarial Commission for Comprehensive Attention in Migration Matters (CIAIMM), they include consolidating the humanitarian model of mobility and setting up a group to review and update the decree that gave life to the Commission.
In this regard, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, stated that attention to migration is a priority for the federal government and recognized the progress that has been made in the last six years, which is why he called for continuing to work coordinated in the revision of this model.
“President Sheinbaum Pardo’s instruction is that we continue working in a coordinated manner, that we review this mobility model to update it, so that we take advantage of all the experience we have and, of course, maintain what has worked and what could require some adjustment or adaptation, because that is what the Commission is for,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of National Defense, Ricardo Trevilla; the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch; the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel; the Undersecretary of the Navy, José Barradas; the Undersecretary of Employment and Labor Productivity, Quiahuitl Chávez.
In addition, the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Migration and Population, Félix Arturo Medina, was present; the commissioner of the National Migration Institute, Francisco Garduño; the head of the National System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family, María del Rocío García; the head of the Migration Policy Unit, Registration and Identity of Persons, Carlos Antonio Vázquez and the director of Attention and Interinstitutional Linkage of the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees, Germán Gutiérrez.
The head of the North American Unit, Roberto Velasco, attended on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the executive director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amexcid), Alejandra del Moral; the general coordinator of the Mexican Consulates, Jorge Islas, and the general director of Human Mobility and Development, Fátima Gabriela Ríos.
The Intersecretarial Commission for Comprehensive Assistance in Migration Matters was created to serve as a coordinating body for the policies, programs and actions of the agencies of the Federal Public Administration that address the migration phenomenon.
