Anseong City announced on the 10th (Thursday) that it held the opening ceremony of the Anseong Environmental Education Center, an eco-friendly education facility that will become the center of new environmental education.
This opening ceremony was attended by Anseong Mayor Kim Bora, environmental groups, educational figures, and local residents, and had a meaningful time.
Anseong Environmental Education Center was selected and promoted as part of the Ministry of Environment’s Smart Green City contest to solve environmental problems and strengthen citizens’ capabilities in the era of climate crisis. It is an eco-friendly environment that utilizes waste heat from the Anseong City Resource Recovery Facility (Incinerator) and solar energy as the main energy source. As an educational facility, it received Grade 2 certification as a zero energy building.
The buildings include a two-story education building, a subtropical fruit tree greenhouse, and a nursery building. The main facilities include a classroom, an upcycling experience room, an XR experience room, a special exhibition hall, an eco gallery, a library, a subtropical greenhouse, and a lounge. It is expected to become a place of environmental empathy that everyone, including children, teenagers, and local residents, can visit with interest.
In her congratulatory address, Anseong Mayor Kim Bora said, “At a time when the seriousness of the environment, such as climate change and carbon neutrality, has recently emerged due to various environmental issues, the Environmental Education Center is able to share and disseminate practical activities that can wisely overcome these crisis situations. “I will become the chairman,” he said.
With this opening ceremony, the Anseong Environmental Education Center will begin full-scale operation, and many citizens will visit and present various programs to raise awareness of the importance of the environment and take small actions.
