Mr. Bourita and his Japanese counterpart discuss several regional and international issues
Tokyo – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Japanese counterpart, Yoko Kamikawa, discussed, Friday in Tokyo, several regional and international issues, including the situation in Middle East and the Sahel region, as well as in countries bordering the Gulf of Guinea.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the situation in East Asia, particularly in North Korea, said the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release published following these talks.
The talks between the two ministers also focused on international cooperation, the strengthening of United Nations missions and the reform of the Security Council in particular, as well as on the issue of women and the promotion of peace and security, adds the same source.
Mr. Bourita and Ms. Kamikawa also reaffirmed their determination to continue to cooperate within the framework of the Japan-Arab Economic Forum and the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).
Earlier in the day, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for a strengthened partnership. This Memorandum, which illustrates the quality and depth of relations between the two countries marked in particular by the historical ties of esteem uniting the Illustrious Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family, defines the main axes of future cooperation between Morocco and the Japan.
In this document, the two countries reaffirm their commitment to work together for the preservation of peace and international order, based on the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as on the principles of respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
