Building 10 technological schools in the country on the model of TUES in Sofia – this should be done by the state together with active local authorities, and it should happen in the next few years.
This was stated by Yordanka Fandakova, leader of the list of GERB-SDS in the capital’s 24th MIR, during the discussion “Education and skills”, in which Prof. Daniel Valchev, Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov, Dobroslav Dimitrov, Nikita Savov, Krasimir Valchev participated , Denitsa Sacheva and Tomislav Donchev.
Here is what Fandakova highlighted in her post:
🟢Education answers the question of what country we want to live in. If we want to significantly raise the standard of living, to bet on technological productions with high added value, to achieve quality levels of health and social services – the key is in education. Therefore, in the GERB program, we rely on the following steps:
➡ Curricula in mathematics, technology and natural sciences, which together with knowledge form skills and create interest and motivation for learning.
➡ Construction of 10 technological schools in the country on the model of TUES in Sofia. This must be done by the state together with active local authorities and it must happen in the next few years.
🟢 About the need for changes to the curricula, so that they provide knowledge, but also form skills, we talked with colleagues Prof. Daniel Valchev, Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov, Dobroslav Dimitrov, Nikita Savov, Krasimir Valchev, Denitsa Sacheva and Tomislav Donchev.
🙏 I thank both them and the guests for the extremely fruitful debate.
❗ It is high time that the change in the curricula actually happened, and not just talked about. If we get into a conversation about which author or lesson should be dropped, we will have an endless debate.
✅ That is why I propose the establishment of a research institute for education of the type of INSAIT. Such an institute at the Sofia University “St. Cl. Ohridski”, in which researchers from countries with a good educational system and Bulgarian scientists from the universities and BAS will be invited, will be able to work actively with both the teachers and the organizations in the field.
🟢 These are specific tasks that we set ourselves for work in the next National Assembly and regular government. If we do not take these steps, if we do not achieve a political and public consensus, we will continue to rely on good schools and teachers; some children will succeed, others will not, and the gap between different schools and settlements will continue to widen.
✅ It is important to continue with the modernization of the school environment and teacher training and qualification programs, but also to start creating curricula that motivate young people to learn, create, be good and successful people.
