Uijeongbu Art Library successfully concluded the archive special exhibition ‘Paintings on Books,’ which introduces the works and related materials of New Realism artists.
This exhibition, which ran for four months from June to September, was visited by over 24,000 visitors. Through the archive exhibition that focuses on books, citizens who visit the library are provided with new information and experiences that are different from existing exhibitions. It also received a positive response for its comfortable atmosphere where you can feel some leisurely time from your daily life.
A citizen who visited the exhibition hall said, “It was only for a moment, but I felt like I had entered a different world.” He added, “It was a time to recharge and take a break from my busy daily life. “I think this is the power of art.”
Park Young-ae, head of the library department, said, “We will continue to prepare various exhibitions so that Uijeongbu citizens can enjoy high-quality cultural life near their homes,” and “We will serve as a public platform (platform) where any citizen interested in art can participate.” He said.
In November, to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the opening of the Art Library, a commemorative exhibition of artist Baek Young-soo, who served as the inspiration for the Art Library, will be held. Prior to the construction of the Baek Young-soo Museum of Art, which is being promoted by Uijeongbu City, we plan to have a meaningful time to publicize the value of artist Baek Young-soo and his works, which are cultural assets of Uijeongbu.
In addition, Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) held the ‘Youth! The lecture ‘Becoming a Local Planner’ was launched.
This training was designed to increase young people’s interest in the Uijeongbu region and lead changes and development in the local community through participation in urban regeneration. The training course includes basic understanding of urban regeneration, the importance of public-private cooperation to solve local problems, and topic-specific joint training (workshops) in connection with Uijeongbu City’s urban regeneration project, providing not only theoretical education but also field-oriented lectures.
