The Soricheon Healing Walking Competition, hosted and organized by the Unjeong 3-dong Residents’ Association in Paju City, ended successfully on the 12th with about 300 local residents in attendance.
The ‘Soricheon Healing Walking Competition’, which has been held since last May, is a competition that helps strengthen harmony among family and neighbors and protects health, and is in its 9th year.
The event started with an opening ceremony and warm-up at 8:30 a.m. and started from the Unjeong Lake Park intersection, went around the Sori 1 Bridge turning point, and returned to the Unjeong Lake Park intersection for a total of 5.5km.
An event was also held where souvenirs sponsored by the Paju Saemaeul Geumgo Yadang Station main branch were given to course completers and competition participants.
Son Jeong-ae, president of the Unjeong 3-dong Residents’ Association, who organized the competition, said, “I hope that the Soricheon Healing Walking Competition, which has been held for the past five months, will serve as an opportunity for residents to feel the joy of walking and practice healthy lifestyle habits.”

Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Unjeong 1·2-dong One Mind Sports Festival’ held on the 12th under the auspices of the Unjeong 1-dong Sports Council was successfully completed with great response from residents.
Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il, Paju City Council Chairman Park Dae-seong, and Paju City Athletics Chairman Kim Jong-hoon attended the event and delivered messages of congratulations and encouragement.
The sports competition included various games and cultural performances that everyone of different age groups could participate in, such as foot volleyball, children’s obstacle running, seniors’ ball rolling, and air bong running. It was a time for all residents to come together, enjoy sports activities and performances, and strengthen harmony and communication across generations.
Hwang Gwang-seop, president of the Unjeong 1-dong Sports Council, said, “It was a precious time for the residents of Unjeong 1 and 2-dong to gather together, laugh and enjoy, and it became an even more meaningful event because many residents participated.” He added, “We will continue to strive to strengthen the health and harmony of the residents.” said.

Additionally, the Resident Community Council and Youth Guidance Committee of Unjeong 3-dong, Paju City harvested sweet potatoes on the 9th to practice sharing with neighbors.
Members of the Resident Community Council and Youth Guidance Committee began plowing and fertilizing the field and planted sweet potatoes last May.
After 5 months of continuous management and cultivation, the harvest was completed on the 9th. Proceeds from the sale of 50 boxes of sweet potatoes harvested on this day will be donated to this winter’s kimchi sharing event.
Meanwhile, the Unjeong 3-dong Resident Community Council and the Youth Guidance Committee have been growing into a sustainable community by consistently holding kimchi sharing events from 2020 to this year.
