At the University Erzincan Binali Yıldırımlocated in the Turkish city of Erzincan, the I International Symposium of the Turkish Diaspora began its work.
As Day.Az was informed by the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with Diaspora, the symposium was held jointly by the Office of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) of the Republic of Turkey, the Governorate of Erzincan, the Municipality of Erzincan, Erzincan Binali Yildirim University and other partners.
Along with officials, cultural figures, athletes and other representatives of the diaspora took part in the symposium.
The rector of Erzincan University Binali Yıldırım, Professor, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech Akyn Levent.
The head of YTB Abdullah Eren, Governor of Erzincan Hamza Aydogdu, Chairman of the Municipality of Erzincan Bekir Aksu and others spoke at the event. Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Cevdet Yilmaz took part in the symposium online. He noted that more than 7 million Turks live abroad. Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yildirim said that the Turkish diaspora is a huge force representing Turkic culture, values and achievements throughout the world. “Together we will take decisive steps and further strengthen the role of the Turkic world in the international arena,” he said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Diaspora conveyed greetings from Chairman Fuad Muradov to the participants of the event. He noted that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to the unity and solidarity of the Turkic states. The Deputy Chairman touched upon the goals set for the future of the Turkic world and the achievements as a result of the targeted policy. The work done within the framework of cooperation between the state committee and the Organization of Turkic States was also noted.
The symposium will end on October 16, 2024.
