ROMA. With the certainty of closing the year as n.1, Jannik Sinner continues to dominate the world rankings. After yet another seasonal success, with the victory at the Shanghai Masters where he beat Novak Djokovic in the final, the Italian tennis player remains firmly in the lead ahead of the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and to German Alexander Zverev in the ranking published by the ATP.
The third player in the Open era to win his first two major singles trophies in the same year, the Italian will begin his 18th week as world number 1. Djokovicremains at the foot of the podium, fourth ahead of the Russian Daniil Medvedev. The American Taylor Fritz, eliminated in the semifinals in Shanghai by the former Serbian n.1, however gained a position, rising to sixth place against the Russian Andrey Rublev. Casper Ruud, 8th, and Alex de Minaur, 9th, moved up one and two positions respectively.
The Czech Tomas Machac, semi-finalist in Shanghai beaten by Sinner, achieved the best ranking of his career by climbing eight positions. And among the new generations, the other Czech Jakub Mensik, 19 years old, rises to 51st place (+14). Another young man on the rise is the Chinese Juncheng Shang who gains two positions and enters the top 50 for the first time.
And this week there are 14 Azzurri among the best 200 in the world: stable Lorenzo Musetti (18), Flavio Cobolli (30) e Matteo Arnaldi (36): two-seater ladder Matteo Berrettini (42).
