Laâyoune/INDH: Awareness campaign on mother and child health in the Foum El Oued commune

Organized on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women, this action is part of a series of awareness campaigns on maternal and child health, led by the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) of Laâyoune , in partnership with the “Attiqa” association for the support of women and children in difficult situations and the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

This campaign, which is part of the 3rd phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), in particular its 4th program “Improving the human capital of rising generations”, aims to raise awareness among rural women about the good health practices and to allow this category to benefit from free medical examinations.

In addition, this awareness campaign focused on examinations in gynecology for the benefit of 12 women and in pediatrics for the benefit of 41 children, as well as the vaccination of children and the verification of their vaccination records.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Ali Itreb, executive at the Social Action Division in Laâyoune, in charge of the program “Improving human capital for rising generations”, indicated that this action aims to contribute to the promotion access of mothers and children to the right to health.

And to continue that medical examinations were provided on site in general medicine, genecology and pediatrics, with the aim of bringing medical services closer to the rural population.

For her part, the head nurse at the second level health center “Alwifaq” in Laâyoune, Saida Anddam, highlighted the importance of this awareness campaign for the benefit of women around reproductive health, balanced nutrition , the benefits of breastfeeding and medical monitoring of women and newborns, indicating that this initiative has enabled women to promote best practices relating to maternal and child health.

For her part, the president of the “Attiqa” association for the support of women and children in difficult situations, Fatima Bouchiyoua, stressed that this initiative aims to bring mothers and children closer to access to services. health, particularly in rural areas, noting that it also intervenes on the occasion of the “Pink October” campaign aimed at raising awareness of the risks of breast cancer and the means of preventing it.

It should be remembered that the INDH, as part of its innovative and pragmatic approach based on palpable results, is committed in an exemplary manner to be part of the multiple efforts made to improve the various indicators inherent to the health of mother and child.
