Pyongyang: Tension between North Korea and South Korea has increased once again. North Korea’s Defense Ministry has ordered its artillery units near the border with South Korea to be ready to fire. According to North Korea’s government news agency KCNK, the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army issued this order on October 12. This order has been issued at a time when North Korea has accused South Korea of delivering propaganda leaflets through drones in Pyongyang’s airspace. In the order of the Korean Defense Ministry, by 8 pm on Sunday, ‘complete 8 Artillery Brigade with wartime strength was ordered to be ‘ready to fire’. Along with this, other units were instructed to increase their surveillance and remain fully alert.

Earlier, North Korea had claimed that South Korea had sent drones carrying propaganda leaflets on October 3 and again on Wednesday and Thursday last week. According to KCNA, the leaflets were reportedly filled with inflammatory rumors and nonsense. North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said flying a drone over Pyongyang’s territory ‘could be considered a military attack.’ Pyongyang had called it a ‘serious military provocation’.

North Korea is destroying roads
Meanwhile, on Monday, South Korea said it had received indications that North Korea was preparing to destroy northern sections of inter-Korean roads that are no longer in use.
