Thirumavalavan: Government of Karnataka funds Rs 1000 crore to build Megha Dadu Dam: Thirumavalavan urges to protect Tamil Nadu’s rights

by time news
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Thirumavalavan has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action to protect Tamil Nadu’s rights as the Karnataka government has allocated Rs.

According to a statement issued by Dol Thirumavalavan, the ruling BJP government in Karnataka has set aside Rs. 1000 crore for the construction of a dam at Megha Dadu across the Cauvery and has convened an all-party meeting. The Union Water Resources Minister has also expressed support for the Karnataka government’s illegal move. In this context, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) urges the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate legal action to establish Tamil Nadu’s right in Cauvery and convene an all-party meeting here.

Cauvery Arbitration and the Supreme Court No dam should be built across the Cauvery. They have made it clear that the government of Karnataka will have to get the approval of Tamil Nadu if it wants to build. No state can build a dam across the Cauvery unless there is a discussion and consensus in the Cauvery Management Commission formed on the basis of the final judgment of the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has decided to build a dam at a cost of about 9000 crore rupees to hold 66 TMC of water in Megha Dadu and has set aside 1000 crore rupees for it in this year’s budget. It is shocking that the Minister of Water Resources of the United Kingdom, speaking in Bangalore on March 5, announced that “a new cloud project will begin this year.” This shows the blatant anti-Tamil stance of the Modi government.

Not surprisingly, the Karnataka government disregarded the Supreme Court ruling and the Cauvery Management Authority. But it is illegal for the Union government to support Karnataka, which is supposed to be neutral on the Cauvery issue. We lost 14.75 TMC of the water allotted to us by the Cauvery Arbitration Tribunal because the AIADMK government did not put in competent lawyers to argue the Cauvery issue.
