Last Friday, the bassist and vocalist of “Sturtsite” Kiril Marichkov passed away ridiculously, after he fell from the stage minutes before a concert of the “Foundation” in the village of Selanovtsi. It was sent today.

His first wife Dorothea and her son Kiril Marichkov – junior were also at the funeral. Today she is Voleva – the wife of Nikolay Volev.

Volev died on the spot. The cause of the incident is still being investigated. The director was 78 years old.

Nikolay Volev was born in Sofia on April 10, 1946. In 1968, he fled Bulgaria without permission from the authorities. After a stay in a refugee camp in Turkey, he left for England. In 1972 he graduated in film direction at the London Film School.

Between 1972 and 1976 he made documentaries for Bulgarian Television as a screenwriter and director. Then, from 1978 to 1991, he worked at the “Boyana” Feature Film Studio.

Kiril Marichkov’s first wife, Dorothea, divorced him and married Nikolay Volev while her son Kiril Marichkov Jr. was young. They have no children in common with the director.

A day ago, with an emotional post, Dorothea Voleva said goodbye to the legend of Bulgarian rock.

OF KIRILL MARYTCHKOV

We all die. But with his work and life, he vowed immortality. He will remain forever in us and will not be forgotten.

And what could be better than that.

In each of his songs, someone found themselves, their feelings, their faith, their hope.

And what could be better than that.

Fate gave him another gift. Not to die in a wheelchair in some hospice, but on the stage where is his life, the meaning of his existence and music his love.

And what could be better than that.

Peace and light on your way, Kircho!
