Pope Francis has recorded his thoughts on what he said in his three-part sermon on Thursday that rivers of blood are flowing in Ukraine and that what is taking place in the country is not just a military attack, but Dr. Andrea Tornielli, director of the news division of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Speaking to the Vatican, Tornielli thanked Pope Francis for his call for an end to the war in Ukraine and for peace in the country.

Three days after a new law was introduced in Russia, Pope Benedict XVI said he was “thankfully” sentenced to 15 years in prison for spreading false information about Russia’s armed forces.

The United Nations says more than 1.5 million people have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries, while about 200,000 Russian troops have been carrying out heavy attacks in Ukraine.

Russia is reportedly intensifying its offensive against the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, despite strong global opposition. Russia’s siege of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities is a matter of grave concern, the UN said on March 7.
