The federal deputy Eruviel Ávila Villegas (PVEM) presented an initiative so that students of public and private schools can absent from classes to five days per semester to attend to some issue mental health.
“There are very positive experiences in several countries and states of the American Unionfor example, where the student is allowed to miss up to five times per semester to attend to their mental health, for a family member who has died, even for a pet, or for some personal issue.
“The proposal is the meaning of reforming the Education Law and the Health Law so that they can be cared for and care can be guaranteed. Young people are the present and the future of Mexico; “In the Green Party we think and work for them,” said the legislator.

Ávila Villegas indicated in his initiative that the educational system is required to evolve to adequately address the emotional needs of students, who face pressure from exams, bullying, violence, personal losses, among others, that are difficult to process.
Therefore, the promotion and care of mental health in schools, he said, would improve academic performance and contribute to forming more resilient and empathetic people.
