GITEX Africa Morocco 2024: Launch of a call for applications for the benefit of Moroccan startups

Supported by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, this important operation called “GITEX AFRICA Morocco 200” will allow the selected startups to present their innovative projects and ideas and to highlight their potential and know-how, indicates a joint press release from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and the Digital Development Agency (ADD).

Also, this international event will be an opportunity for Moroccan startups to exchange and share their experiences, to measure themselves against good practices in innovative entrepreneurship and thus seize business and partnership opportunities with economic actors of choice. GITEX AFRICA Morocco will also facilitate the connection between Moroccan startups and investors from around the world, underlines the same source.

Moroccan startups will also benefit from support put in place ahead of the event, in particular through roadshows and expert bootcamps aimed at preparing them for their participation.

It should be noted that this major event is organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform in partnership with the ADD.

Furthermore, and considering the importance that the startup ecosystem plays in the development of innovative entrepreneurship, and like the selection process of the previous edition of 2023, marked by the participation of 100 startups which benefited With support from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, it was decided to double the capacity for the 2024 edition by targeting 200 startups.

On the basis of a participatory approach and with a view to ensuring the best conditions for the success of this selection operation, an evaluation committee was established for this purpose, led by the ADD and composed of several actors and stakeholders. of the digital ecosystem in Morocco (public and private).

To this end, interested Moroccan startups must submit their applications on the dedicated digital platform before April 8, 2024 at midnight.

Startups wishing to participate must meet the following conditions:

1. Be a company under Moroccan law Or Be a company founded or co-founded by a Moroccan residing abroad.

2. Be a company justifying characteristics inherent to the startup (innovation, economic model, scalability potential, relevance of the offer, capabilities of the management or founding team);

3. Have a product/service integrating a new technology component.
The evaluation of applications will be based on five equally weighted criteria:
1. The idea of ​​the business: examined on the basis of its degree of innovation

2. The market opportunity: assessed with regard to the size of the market, the level of competition and the long-term development potential

3. The business model: assessed on the basis of its viability, revenue model, pricing strategy and clearly defined target customer segments

4. Startup Traction: Analyzed by looking at revenue generated, number of customers acquired, and investor interest

5. The founding team: evaluated on their skills and experience enabling them to lead the company to success.

The startups selected to be part of the “Morocco 200” at GITEX Africa will benefit from:

– A 4m² subsidized stand at the GITEX Africa Morocco exhibition
– The possibility of attending pre-event bootcamps in the presence of investors and accelerators to help you prepare your pitch
– The opportunity to participate in the Supernova Challenge and win prizes ($100,000 in total)
– A dedicated matchmaking service with more than 600 meetings planned between startups, investors and businesses at GITEX Africa Morocco
– Meetings with more than 1,800 exhibitors, including technology and government entities, ecosystem players, startups and investors
– Meetings with the most active investors and investment funds in Africa.

The selected startups will benefit from a subsidy amounting to 95% of the overall cost of renting stands set up for participation in this 2nd edition of GITEX Africa Morocco, specifies the same source.
