Misappropriation of public funds; illicit enrichment and money laundering stick to the skin of Amadou Damaro Camara. In any case, this is the opinion of the lawyer for the civil party and the special prosecutor of the CRIEF who is prosecuting Amadaou Damaro Camara and co.
In his pleading, the State lawyer who opened the ball of requisitions and pleadings in the case of embezzlement of public funds; illicit enrichment and money laundering involving 15 billion Guinean francs, maintained that the Guinean State has always trusted its sons.
However, according to Me Amadou Babin Camara, the State was betrayed by some of its sons like Amadou Damaro Camara and company.
According to the civil party’s lawyer, the story of the defendants at the bar does not correspond to the gospel to allow the Court to have light in relation to the documents provided by the central bank.
Of the 15 billion, more than 12 billion were used by Damaro and his companions for their own purposes and not for the construction of the headquarters of the National Assembly. This, before the coup d’état of September 5, 2021 which put an end to his regime.
Therefore, there is no doubt that there was misappropriation of public funds
And the lawyer asks the Court to hold Amadou Damaro Camara, Michel Kamano and Jin Sun Cheng, alias Kim in the bonds of guilt for illegal taking of interest.
For damages, the State lawyer is demanding 20 billion from the defendants and for the civil action to also pay more than 12 billion 586 million Guinean francs
The special CRIEF prosecutor’s office which is prosecuting Damaro and company in this case agreed almost in the same direction as the lawyer for the state judicial agent.
In its requisitions, the special prosecutor of the CRIEF recalls that China had committed to building a seat for the national assembly to the tune of 40 million dollars.
To improve the land, an amount of 15 billion Guinean francs was paid into the account of the national assembly as a financial contribution from the state for the construction of the new headquarters of the national assembly.
According to the special prosecution, contrary to the statements made by Damaro at the bar, he did not leave six billion Guinean francs in the coffers of the central bank.
On the contrary, according to bank statements provided by the central bank, he had disbursed more than 12 billion francs out of the 15 billion paid by the State.
The prosecution staunchly maintains that Damaro is a seasoned economist who is guilty of financial indiscipline at the top of the state.
Consequently, there is no doubt that there was misappropriation of public funds by Amadou Damaro Camara and Michel Kamano.
As we went to press, the prosecution was continuing its requisitions in this case.
