Cameras talk – they’ll want to move them if they don’t shoot the count well

A new digital stamp will be placed by the employees of the “Information Service” on the protocols of the sectional election commissions. He will certify that the scanned document uploaded to the website of the Central Election Commission corresponds to the original one from the CEC and has not been altered. The print will be invisible, that is, it will only be visible from a computer that supports the corresponding software. The goal is to reassure citizens and experts who believe vote tampering is possible.

“This is another level. In the event that someone decides to modify the document after downloading it to their personal computer and decides to show it to the media, public, politicians, this stamp falls, but the original scanned protocol with the stamp of the given RIC will sit on the CEC website” , explained the executive director of “Information Service” Ivaylo Filipov on Wednesday, when a demonstration of the software systems for computer processing of the voting data of the upcoming elections was made in the parliament.

The other innovation is that the phones used to record the live counting process in every section in the country will now speak when they are not set correctly. If the device senses it’s not positioned to take a clear picture of the vote count, or if its battery is running low, it will give voice instructions to people at the committee to move it or turn it on to charge.

New camera-scanners have also been ordered, with which the results of the district commissions and the employees of the EO can be reported more quickly. So far, they have been working with them in the busier areas. With the new devices, it is expected that the vote will be counted more quickly and the final results will be announced by October 30.
