Gunpo City’s Gunpo Cultural Center announced that the 26th Gyeonggi Folk Arts Festival was successfully held at the outdoor stage at Banwol Lake Park in Gunpo City on Sunday, October 13th at 3 p.m.

The stage composition was composed of the first part, Dundae Nongak Gilnori, which attracted attention, the second part, Korean dance, third part, and the 3.31 Manse Movement (Changgeuk), fourth part, Daedong Nori.

Geun-dong Joo, head of the Gunpo Cultural Center, said, “As this was a stage prepared through a historical research process, Gunpo citizens thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a time of learning meaning.”

Meanwhile, Gunpo City held the 6th Disability Awareness Improvement Event in 2024 at the Gunpo City Center for the Disabled on October 15, hosted by the Gunpo City Disabled Persons’ Association (Chairman Sang-hwan Park), with the participation of about 200 disabled people, officials, and general citizens.

The commemorative ceremony began with an opening speech by Park Sang-hwan, Chairman of the Gunpo City Federation of Persons with Disabilities, followed by encouraging speeches by Mayor Ha Eun-ho and Provincial Council Vice-Chairman Jeong Yun-kyung.

Mayor Ha Eun-ho said, “Improving awareness of disabilities is an important task that our society must work on together,” and emphasized, “We will create Gunpo without prejudice and discrimination against people with disabilities.”

Following the commemorative ceremony, this event was a program to help a proper understanding of disability through various experience booths such as a lecture by instructor Kim Hyeong-soo (representative of the Disabled Student Support Network), screening of videos related to improving disability awareness, quiz show, learning etiquette, learning sign language, and wheelchair experience. This has been prepared.
