Conducted educational programs and awarded scholarships to 20 elementary school students in Cheorwon-gun
On the 18th, United Pharmaceutical Korea announced that it had joined hands with Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do to conduct the ’16th United Global Talent Development Program’. This program is a social contribution activity that selects 20 elementary school students in Cheorwon-gun with excellent academic performance and good behavior and provides them with the opportunity to grow as future leaders through various experiential learning and leadership lectures.
On the first day, participating students visited the Yongsan War Memorial and had time to learn about the history of war and the past of the Republic of Korea. Afterwards, I moved to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Gwacheon and gained new artistic experiences by appreciating modern art works. Field trips to these two places were designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of history and culture.
After the day’s schedule was over, the students arrived at the Korea United Pharmaceutical Training Center in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do and began full-scale leadership training by participating in a two-day, one-night program.
On the second day, students learned the meaning and value of leadership by listening to a leadership lecture by instructor at the Korea Young Leadership Center. The lecture, which was held under the theme of ‘In Search of Leadership,’ provided students with time to discover their own leadership and think about how to demonstrate it.
After the program ended, participating students received scholarship certificates and souvenirs.
Choi Yu-geun, a teacher at the Cheorwon Office of Education who participated in this program as a lead teacher, said, “I was very moved that a company would step forward and continue to carry out such meaningful activities for students. “I hope that this program will continue in the future and that more students will be able to participate,” he said.
Kim Ki-chan, a 5th grade student at Shincheolwon Elementary School, said, “I was impressed by the history I learned at the War Memorial of Korea and the works I saw at the art museum. “It was a really happy day because I had a lot of fun experiences,” he said.
Kim Tae-sik, executive director of United Pharmaceutical Korea, supported the students’ future, saying, “Through this program, I hope that students will realize the importance of leadership and lay the foundation for them to grow into leading figures in the global era.”
After establishing a relationship with Jadeung-ri, Seo-myeon, Cheorwon-gun in 2004 through the One Company, One Village Movement, United Pharmaceutical Korea has been operating the ‘United Global Talent Development Program’ with Cheorwon-gun every year since 2006. This program aims to develop leadership skills in local students that can function on the world stage, and is now in its 16th year.
