- ABB presented its second generation of stations from the Terra All-in-one family
- They offer reliable and high-speed DC charging with power from 120 to 180 kW
The future of mobility is electric. In addition to electric cars, fast charging stations are also a key factor in the equation. The world leader in the field of charging stations ABB presented its second generation of stations from the Terra All-in-one family, which offer reliable and high-speed DC charging with a power of 120 to 180 kW. The family includes the models Terra 124 and Terra 184. These stations are designed for people with a dynamic daily life. The compact size makes them perfect for urban use, as they are designed to conveniently charge any electric vehicle, including models with high-voltage battery systems. The innovations in the model range include charging cables of a new generation developed entirely by ABB – AIR500, renewed power modules and configuration of elements in the station, as well as a renewed design in connection with the latest European requirements for access to the charging infrastructure by people with disabilities.
The new generation AIR500 charging cable has improved cooling and allows longer charging with a peak current of up to 400 A, thus ensuring optimal use of the power of the charging station. Updated power modules ensure even more stable and trouble-free operation of the charging station. The fact that the station complies with the latest announced European directives makes it ready for the future when the norms come into force. Charging stations from the Terra All-in-one family are also available with an integrated card payment terminal – another future regulation that is about to become mandatory for every public charging station.
The charging station has constant connectivity 24/7/365 days a year that enables remote monitoring and diagnostics, wirelessly receiving updates and upgrades to support every new electric vehicle model on the road. In addition, the Terra 184 charges up to 3 vehicles simultaneously and is connected to various back-end and web-based services through the OCPP integration. It also has an automatic charging function (Auto charge, Plug&Charge), which greatly facilitates the authorization process before starting the charging session.
Its modular design allows simultaneous charging of 2 vehicles with up to 90 kW each or up to 180 kW of power when charging one electric vehicle. The ability to charge up to 3 electric vehicles at the same time using a combination of DC and AC charging ensures efficient use of power, while having cables of optimal length makes the charging station suitable for any parking configuration and saves space.
The Terra 184 is capable of high-voltage charging up to 920 V, ensuring full compatibility with current and future electric vehicle models. Increasing the power of DC charging is increasingly sought after and necessary, considering efficiency, safety and usability. With their multiple configuration options, the charging stations of the Terra All-in-one family are ready to support the growing demand and expanding market for electric vehicles.
The charging station Terra 184 combines:
